An object of veneration during the La Festa Italiana Celebration is the monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus . The first monument to be located on Scranton’s Courthouse Square, it was dedicated on October 21, 1892 by the Italian citizens of our community to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Columbus in the new world.
