The Honorable Mrs. Munley, one of the first female Pennsylvania Legislature Representatives (and the first to represent Lackawanna County) left an indelible legacy in the pursuit of equality and fairness for women in Pennsylvania. In recognition of her leadership and service, the Pennsylvania Legislature named August 19 as Marion L. Munley Day in Pennsylvania.
She was a beloved force in Archbald which also recognized her on August 19 (her 119th birth date) by naming the route she traveled often from her home to attend services at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (pictured in the background). In the foreground is the Archbald Veterans Park, located on the site of the former Archbald High School, the alma mater of generations of Archbald Munleys.
