“This is the handsomest building I ever saw.” President Theodore Roosevelt

The Pennsylvania Capitol is celebrated by many as the most beautiful state capitol in America. This American Renaissance style building was designed by architect Joseph Huston as a “Palace of Art”.  It was dedicated in October, 1906.

The central 252-foot dome, lesser domes of the Capitol Complex and the dome of St. Patrick’s Cathedral preside over the Harrisburg cityscape and the tree-lined river park walk way, all reflected in this night view of the Susquehanna River. The painting was inspired by the art of James Menzer of the Team PA Foundation.

A reproduction of the painting is included in the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence Collection.
