The Penn Avenue Historic District was the hub of early 19th century industrial Scranton. The
wholesalers housed here offered a full range of products, from children's dresses to mining
supplies.
The Lackawanna Laundry Building now houses the Steamtown Blueprint and Copy Center, the
Ballet Theater of Scranton and law offices. Cakes are offered at 314 Penn Avenue.
The evening sun highlights the West Mountain sandstone and brick masonry echoing the "Early
Sunday Morning" painting by Edward Hopper. The stone arches on the right side of the building
reflect the Romanesque Revival Style, popular in the 1880s.
